Initial Assessment
Achievement Therapy Services offers a two-step process that begins with an intake consultation. This is the stage where our staff meets with the family to discuss areas of concern and to determine if our services will provide what your child needs for proper treatment. It is at this step that we determine a potential client’s eligibility and aid with insurance coverage issues. We require parents to fill out an application as well as provide proof of ASD diagnosis, insurance, and a prescription for ABA therapeutic services.
The second step of the process involves the assessment of your child and their skill level. We employ a variety of assessment tools that aid with better understanding their individual needs. This step is critical in forming a treatment plan that is specific to your child’s needs. While we usually conduct the assessment in the child’s home, we can make arrangements that will work best for the family and their needs.
Our staff includes Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), who will conduct the initial assessment. The protocols that we have established allow our analysts to best diagnose a child and create an individual treatment plan for them. Our goal is to include the child’s parents in all steps of the process, including the initial assessment.
The first step is to have a formal diagnosis so that the severity of the child’s autism is documented. Keep in mind that yearly assessments help to chart an ASD child’s progress when compared to previous assessments. An initial assessment allows us to establish a baseline to work with.
It is beneficial to have a comprehensive developmental assessment done before a child starts treatment. This should measure all areas of development and will provide a greater overall understanding. The developmental assessment will help to highlight areas that may require greater focus when developing a treatment plan. This may include measuring adaptive skills, cognition, motor skills, as well as emotional and social development.
We have ABA therapy agency services in New Jersey, New York, and Queens that can be contacted to let you know which of these services are available at the time. The information gathered from these assessments are designed to show a child’s functioning when compared to their peers. They help us to map out a child’s emotional and mental parameters. Depending upon the severity of autism, other assessments may be required.

Intake
Our services begin with an intake consultation with a member of our administrative team. This is a time where families are able to discuss primary areas of concern and determine if ABC can meet their needs.

Insurance Eligibility
During this process our team will determine eligibility for services and navigate the insurance process for you. You will be asked to fill out an application, provide proof of medical diagnosis of Autism spectrum disorder, provide a prescription for ABA Therapy services, and provide proof of insurance.

Assessment
The next step is to assess your child’s skill level, which is necessary to guide the development of an individualized Autism treatment plan. The assessment will be conducted by a licensed Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and will include the use of various assessment tools. Typically, assessments are conducted in the home setting. However, arrangements can be made to conduct the assessment in an area that best suits your family’s needs.

Therapy
Through assessment in everyday situations such as home and school, behaviors are targeted and a detailed therapy plan is developed. Throughout the treatment, data is recorded and analyzed in order to show progress of meaningful change and to evaluate, modify, and refine treatment for the most socially significant outcomes.
